I've never experienced a nicotine high. The one time I tried smoking a cigarette back in seventh grade, my body responded pretty badly and that was the last time I tried tobacco.
Lately, however, I've begun to warm to idea of having a really cool cope ring on the back pocket of my Wranglers. Sure, I could stick a can of dip back there and then go at the pocket with an emery board, but that'd be a pretty phony way of doing it.
That's why the idea came to me that if I'm going to get that cope ring, I might as well really try some smokeless tobacco in the course of doing so. Having never experienced nicotine, hey, it might be a kick.
One of the benefits of nicotine is helping focus your mind while doing repetitive tasks -- like proofreading crossword, sudoku and kakuro puzzles, in my case.
Back when the stuff was legal, I used to take a supplement of ephedra, caffeine and aspirin to accomplish this. I was between full-time jobs at the time and fortunate to have landed a well-paying temp gig making endless, endless calls to manufacturers and conducting surveys about power transmission converters and the like. Believe me, the ECA stack really did help keep my mind on target.
Ephedra's no longer a legal supplement, so smokeless tobacco could very well come in handy with those puzzles. Heck, it might even help me deal with the HTML I need to hand code. As we speak, there's a small error in some content I've been trying to post since the end of last week and I can't locate the problem and it's trying me nuts. Maybe the answer is just a little pinch between my cheek and gums, huh?
It's easy to come by dip and a lot of guys obviously indulge. While walking between 2 Riverside Plaza and the Ogilvie Transportation Center last Friday, one magazine store even displayed a sign declaring, "We have fresh Copenhagen."
I'll bet the routine is to buy a can of dip, then buy a can of beer, slam the beer and then use the empty can to spit into on your commute home.
Now that could be a plan. I hear one of the bars at Ogilvie sells Shiner Bock.
